The Decade of Centenaries timeline website was launched on 20th June at PRONI. The aims of the launch were: to introduce the audience to the website, to use it to showcase the content of local archives and to encourage the audience to undertake their own research. There is a great range of content available across all platforms that explore the Decade of Centenaries. Some resources like RTE’s Century Ireland cover the whole period whereas others such as Ireland’s Memorial Records focus on a specific event or topic. More than half of young Britons are unable to name the years the First World War started and ended, according to a survey which highlights a “shaky” grasp of even basic details about the conflict.
