Cú Chulainn’s Challenge is an adventure game for children that explores the rich mythological heritage of Navan Fort / Eamhain Mhacha. This atmospheric app is available in English and Irish and uses video and audio to recount the heroic tales of Setanta/ Cú Chulainn.
I’ve been updating my mobile research with OFCOM’s latest reports: Market Communications Report July 2013 and Children and Parents: Media Use and Attitudes October 2013. They provide an invaluable insight into device ownership and media consumption in the UK. I’ve summarised some of the information relating to tablet and smartphone ownership below.
I’m spending today doing a bit more research on Navan Fort for the Navan Fort Heritage Apps project. I’m working with Macha Media, CAIDRE Teo and a group of young people to produce two bilingual apps for the ancient site. The two apps aim to bring the rich archaeological and mythological heritage of the location to life for young children and their families and older teenagers and adults.
The Siege! at Carrickfergus Castle App is now available to download for free for Android and Apple mobile devices. The Siege! app contains a mission-style game and an interactive map that explores Anglo-Norman military strategy and the defensive architecture of the Carrickfergus Castle. The game is best played on location at the castle and uses interactive role-play and atmospheric video to bring the 1315-16 Bruce siege to life.
